Paula Rego, the greatest portuguese painter, is a big role model for me due to her courage as a woman who lived in a much more conservative and restrictive time than the current one. She had no fear of embrancing the most controversial subjects such as the abortion series that she paint oat the beggining of this millenium.
I was considering painting Paula Rego for a while and when I found this photo it seemed a good time to paint with other materials and see wich results could I get.
The final result of the 50x70cm painting.
I wanted to explore new materials such as soft pastels or others that could let me be more expressive and creative compared to the graphite ones that I usually do.
